About the Speaker
Amb. Richard N. Swett - a former U.S. Ambassador to Denmark (1998-2001) and a former U.S. Congressman representing New Hampshire’s 2nd District (1991-1995). Throughout his career, Ambassador Swett has been an advocate for diplomacy, economic development, and sustainability. During his tenure in Congress, he was a leading voice on energy policy and infrastructure development. As Ambassador to Denmark, he focused on strengthening U.S.-Danish relations, with an emphasis on trade, international security, and sustainable energy initiatives.
Ambassador Swett is also a licensed architect and has a deep interest in the role of design and planning in global development. He has worked with various international organizations, governments, and private-sector firms to promote economic development, particularly in emerging markets. Swett has been a thought leader on how bottom-up approaches can stimulate sustainable growth in regions like Africa and the Global South.
With a career that spans both public service and the private sector, Ambassador Swett continues to be engaged in fostering innovative solutions to global challenges, including climate change, economic inequality, and infrastructure development.
