About the Candidate

Lily Tang Williams is the Republican nominee for US House of Representatives in New Hampshire’s Second Congressional District 2. Lily is a survivor of Mao's Communist regime in China. Born to poor working-class parents in China's western Sichuan province, Lily grew up during Mao’s ten-year Cultural Revolution, experiencing extremely poor living conditions, food rationing, social chaos and oppressive Communist restrictions and indoctrination.

She was introduced to the US Constitution and Declaration of Independence by an American student in college, learning for the first time about individual rights and liberty as opposed to collective rights. Lily fled the oppressive Communist regime in 1988 and arrived in the US with only $100 in her pocket. Through hard work and the support of her new community, Lily overcame her language and cultural barriers and financial obstacles, going on to earn a Master's degree in Social Work, start her own business, and fall in love and have 3 wonderful children with her husband, John.

Lily is very active in the community, serving as Chair of the NH Asian American Coalition (which she helped to found), a member of the Advisory Board of USPIE, (U.S. Parents involved in Education), founder of the Weare Pink Ladies Social Club, and on the Speakers Bureau of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation in Washington DC. Lily and her husband John run a small business together. Lily also works part-time as an expert witness and consultant on China related cases, traveling the country as a professional speaker, sharing her story about the horrors of Socialism and Communism. Lily is living the American Dream. She is honored to be the 2024 Republican nominee for New Hampshire's Second Congressional District.
