We are the indispensable nation. If America fails to lead, China wins. The world loses.

President Trump's grossly incompetent management of foreign policy

- How do you view America’s alliance system as it currently stands? What changes, if any, to the alliance structure would you like to see implemented?

Trump has devastated our alliances. Repair is essential.

- What role, if any, should U.S. foreign assistance play in advancing America's interests abroad, and what principles would guide your decisions on funding those programs?  How do you view the decision to shutter USAID?

Some foreign assistance may be essential. USAID was probably a bridge too far and invited reductions.

- What role should Congress play in authorizing or overseeing the use of U.S. military force abroad, including recent actions involving Iran?

Trump's Folly in Iran is a disaster. Congress must play a leading role in planned deployments (as opposed to Pearl Harbor-style attacks where immediate action is necessary). I am an Iran expert who could help the Senate undo the damage Trump has done.

- What outcomes should the United States pursue in its relations with Iran and what approaches do you support in achieving these goals?

Undo the continuing damage Trump has done. Work with Gulf partners to restore Pre-February situation.

- Do you support further aid to Ukraine in its war with Russia? If so, what types of aid would you vote for?

Strongly support expanded aid to Ukraine.

- How should the U.S. approach its relationship with Israel?

This is an open question and I approach the issue with an open mind.

- What path would you like to see the United States chart in regards to international trade relations? What role should Congress play in setting trade policy?

The Supreme Court has reaffirmed Congress' role. We need to undo Trump's zany tariff policy which overall has been a spectacular failure.

- Where do you believe the United States should seek cooperation with countries that are also strategic competitors, such as China, and where should it draw firm lines?

National security and economic security are always the red lines. Trump is the best leader Communist China has ever had.

- What are your current views on immigration policy and enforcement in the United States? This includes legal and illegal immigration, refugee resettlement, and asylum programs.

I support President Trump's closed border and removal policies. Asylum should be ended except in rare instances.

- What role should the U.S. Congress play in shaping U.S. Foreign Policy and how much should it defer to the President and the U.S. Department of State?

Congress has the power of the purse. Congress deserves a substantial role in forging overall policy.

- How do international events affect the lives of people in New Hampshire, and how would your foreign policy priorities benefit the state?

We live in a connected world. New Hampshire is a state with important international business ties. Our economy is tied to the strength of the American economy, which is connected to the world economy.
