WACNH Board Class of 2027


Stephen Barndollar




Steve Barndollar, formerly of Seatrade International, completed stints as a Peace Corps member in Tunisia, as well as a contract escort interpreter with the State Department in the 1960’s, before working for working abroad as a commercial banker. He founded Seatrade International, with his wife Karin, and sold the business in 2012. They live in Portsmouth, NH, where they have resided since 1982. Steve has his Bachelor's Degree from Bowden College and his Master's from UCLA. 

Steve and Karin are longtime members of the World Affairs Council of New Hampshire and this will be Steve's second term on the WACNH Board of Directors.


Leah Dearborn




Leah Dearborn comes from a background in journalism, finance and nonprofit work. She spent several years at the Boston-based firm, MFS Investment Management, before joining the Aviation Museum of New Hampshire as assistant director in 2021. During her time at MFS, Leah also earned a master’s degree in international relations, which helped lay the groundwork for a desire to work with nonprofits. Prior to her time at MFS, Leah was employed in a busy newsroom as the editor of two weekly newspapers in Lynn, Massachusetts. She has also served as a contributor to a series of daily newspapers, magazines and websites, including the Boston Globe. She has volunteered in the past for the West End Museum in Boston, researching and writing grants for an organization that focuses on the history of immigration in the area.

Leah was elected to an expiring board seat last year and is looking forward to her first full three year term on WACNH's Board of Directors.


Donald Marchand



Don Marchand is a professor emeritus after 22 years at IMD (IMD.org) in Lausanne Switzerland, one of the leading executive development institutes and business schools globally. He designed and delivered CXO-level business innovation and digital transformation programs for international companies in diverse industries including ABB, Daimler Financial Services, HSBC, Nestle, Novartis, Otis Elevator, Rexel, Siemens, Syngenta, and Shell. He has coached multicultural executive teams on business model innovation in country and regional markets. In 2001, he co-founded a business analytics company in Switzerland based on his research about how management teams develop a culture of effective information, knowledge, and IT use to improve business performance.   


Don was Dean of the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University and professor of information management and technology at the University of South Carolina.  He has published 9 books and numerous articles in leading journals including the Harvard Business Review and Sloan Management Review. He received his BA from the University of California, Berkeley, and his MA, and PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles.Since 2016, 


 Don lives in Portsmouth, NH with his wife, Joyce. 


Dr. Chris Matthews



Dr. Lowell Chris Matthews joined SNHU in 2012 and serves as a professor of Global Business and Leadership, lead of Project AIM and director of the University Honors Program. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Delaware, an MBA from Roosevelt University and a Doctorate of Business Administration from Argosy University. Prior to Matthews’ time at SNHU, he served as director of fundraising events for the AIDS Foundation of Chicago and as an adjunct professor at Roosevelt University. His research interests include organizational culture, global leadership practices and social justice and equity.

This will be Chris' second term on the Council's Board of Directors and he is a longtime member of this organization.



Jack Resch




Jack Resch is Professor Emeritus of History at the University of New Hampshire where he was Associate Dean and then Interim Dean of the University's college in Manchester from 1986-1996.  Jack is the recipient of UNH's Alumni Affairs Award for Excellence in Public Service and Distinguished Professor Award. He received Fulbright appointments to teach in Hungary, China, and Japan.  At home he served on numerous boards including being chairman of New Hampshire Humanities and New Hampshire Fulbright Association, and he spent one term in the NH Legislature, 1982-1984.  Jack served as WACNH’s Board president from 2005-2009. 

Jack is a longtime member and Board Member, serving WACNH with distinction for over 20 years.


David Schroeder




Dave Schroeder is the founder and President of Hypersoft, Inc., providing image compression, decompression, and processing for banking systems and document storage and retrieval systems worldwide. He graduated from Yale University in 1959 and has worked in the computer software industry (IBM and Digital Equipment Corp.) since then. While at Digital he managed an organization of software engineers in approximately 30 different countries. Dave has travelled to 35 different countries. Dave and his wife, Missie, have met with around 200 IVLP visitors at home hospitality dinners at their house or at the houses of friends. They live in Bedford, NH and are lucky to have their son, daughter, and 5 grandchildren nearby.

Dave is a longtime member of the organization and has served on WACNH's Board since 2012.


Jeff Spears




Jeff Spears has experience and expertise in several areas such as international laws and business, government and corporate contracts, technology transfer and compliance along with an outstanding military service. He has a deep understanding of geopolitical landscape, extensive knowledge in international relations, and keen acumen in global affairs. Jeff is well-traveled and is connected with individuals across the globe from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds. He has been instrumental in forging several strategic partnerships across business and academic entities to foster innovation and growth. Jeff's local and global network combined with his passion for community collaboration, strong leadership skills, gregarious personality, and impeccable integrity makes him a strong candidate for WACNH board.

Jeff has been a member of World Affairs Councils in Virginia and Texas. He joined the World Affairs Council of New Hampshire in 2022 and is excited to join the Board for the first time.


Nick Watson




Nick is in his ninth year as a social studies teacher at Bow High School and his fourth year as an Adjunct Professor at New England College. He has been a strong connection for the World Affairs Council of New Hampshire, working with the organization to bring international speakers, diplomacy simulations, and the Academic WorldQuest to his students. He is passionate about experiential and international learning, having advised the Model UN club since 2016 and acted as an international trip advisor since 2017. Nick also has spent the past school year as the Subject Matter Expert for the WACNH grant that the organization received from NH Humanities to expand the Diplomacy Simulations program.

Nick is honored and excited to deepen his engagement with WACNH as a first time Board Member.
