U.S. Approaches to State and Local Government – April 11, 2025 We are excited to welcome a delegation from the Republic of Kosovo for a one-day deep dive into the U.S. model of federalism. While in New Hampshire, the group will explore how authority and responsibility are divided across federal, state, and local governments. Key topics will include intergovernmental collaboration, decentralized policy-making, and how private individuals and community organizations influence governance. Visitors will meet with city and state officials, nonprofit leaders, and community members to gain firsthand insight into how government services are shaped by both public and civic input. This initiative focuses on the legislative process in the United States and the leadership skills required to champion policy development. Participants from Iraq will explore the structure and function of New Hampshire’s state legislature, the legislative calendar, committee work, and the balance between party politics and bipartisan efforts. In addition to observing lawmaking in action, participants will engage with legislators, legislative staff, and advocates. Topics will include constituent services, public hearings, policy advocacy, and leadership strategies within a democratic institution. This program will bring visitors from across Eurasia to New Hampshire to examine best practices for promoting open and transparent government. Conversations will focus on how civil society organizations, journalists, and watchdog groups work with government institutions to uphold accountability. Meetings will highlight how public records laws, ethics commissions, and citizen oversight help reinforce public trust. Through case studies and site visits, participants will explore how New Hampshire enforces “Right to Know” laws and encourages public participation in government. New Hampshire will host a group from East Asia and the Pacific to explore legal frameworks that promote democratic institutions and regional stability. Discussions will center on how state and local governments in the U.S. contribute to broader democratic goals, support civil society engagement, and participate in multilateral initiatives. Visitors will meet with legal experts, nonprofit leaders, and public officials to discuss strategic planning, treaty cooperation, and public-private partnerships that uphold rule of law and governance standards. Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development – June 16–19, 2025 Visitors from the Near East will explore how New Hampshire fosters innovation and private enterprise. The program will showcase small business development resources, public-private partnerships, and pathways to economic inclusion. Participants will meet with local entrepreneurs, business incubators, financial institutions, and support organizations focused on access to capital, mentorship, and business training. Key topics will include regulatory reforms, business registration, and strategies for creating sustainable economic opportunity at the state and local levels.Policy-Making and Regional Stability – July 8–12, 2025 |
