Featuring Massood Samii, SNHU Professor of international business; Former OPEC Senior Economist

Professor Massood Samii is a professor of international business at Southern New Hampshire University. Previously, he was Chairman of the International Business department, director of Institute for International Business, and director of the doctoral program at SNHU. He is also a senior lecturer at MIT’s Department of Civil and Environment Engineering. Previously, he was with the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, where he did research on global energy and oil markets. He served as OPEC Secretariat in Vienna Austria for a number of years as a senior economist and the head of the finance section. During his tenure at OPEC, he was involved in a number of projects including OPEC Long Term Strategy, and Oil Pricing Strategy.
Dr. Samii has also directed numerous projects and evaluated projects for the U.S. Department of Education. In 2004, he was recognized by the Governor and the New Hampshire International Trade Association (NHITA) for outstanding contribution to the state’s International Business and Trade. He is a member of the Advisory Board of Governor’s Office of International Commerce (OIC) and of the Texas A&M International University ’s Ph.D. program. In addition, he has done numerous executive training and consulting internationally.
Dr. Samii has lectured and published widely on issues of energy, economic development, and international business. His articles have appeared in the journals of Energy Policy, Energy and Development, OPEC Review, and Petroleum Management. He has been an official representative to the IMF Interim Committee, World Bank Development Committee, and UNCTAD Trade and Development Committee. His recent book titled International Business and Information technology was published by Rutledge in 2004. His area of research includes Risk Analysis and Management for Foreign Direct Investment, Privatization of infrastructure, Dynamic Strategy, and International Energy Industry.
