Dr. Haroon K. Ullah will address the latest news on ISIS in Iraq and Syria, countering militarism in Pakistan and other political issues facing the Middle East. ABOUT DR. HAROON K. ULLAH

 Dr. Ullah is an international scholar, U.S.  diplomat, and field researcher specializing in South Asia and the Middle East. He was a member of the late Ambassador Richard Holbrooke's policy team on Pakistan and Afghanistan. He currently serves on Secretary Kerry's Policy Planning Staff at the U.S. State Department, where he focuses on public diplomacy and countering violent  extremism. Ullah grew up in Washington State and has a PhD from the  University of Michigan, and a MPA from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. Ullah has written Vying for Allah's Vote (Georgetown University Press, 2013) and Bargain from the Bazaar (Public Affairs Books, 2014).
